“Apple's adoption of A/UX is a mistake…if Apple adopts UNIX, advantages that relate to the company's proprietarymarket position will be lost. Apple is giving away its competitive edge.”
Apple's modern operating systems (macOS and iOS) are based on a Unix core, stemming from its 1997 acquisition of NeXTSTEP, the object-oriented, multitasking operating system based on the Mach kernel built by Steve Jobs' NeXT.
